Where onboarding meets growth — gamifying the employee experience through progress, personalization, and engagement.
Project Type
Onboarding App
Date
June 2025
Project Overview
Noxyn is a gamified onboarding platform designed to make employee training more engaging and motivating. Built during my internship at Veeam Software, the concept transforms onboarding into an interactive experience with progress tracking, rewards, and personalized learning paths. The project was presented to Veeam leadership and earned 2nd place in the Product Strategy Lab for its innovative approach to employee engagement.
Problem Statement
How might we empower managers and new hires during onboarding by solving for unassigned downtime, missed development opportunities, and a lack of structured feedback so that both sides can stay aligned, engaged, and productive in fast-paced tech environments?

Research
To identify opportunities for innovation, I analyzed leading onboarding and learning experience platforms: Adobe Learning Manager, WorkRamp, and Lessonly. Each offers strong training and engagement tools, but they also reveal gaps that Noxyn addresses through gamification, personalization, and visual motivation.
1. Adobe Learning Manager
Strengths: Robust learning management system with scalable enterprise features and analytics. Integrates well with existing HR platforms and supports multi-format learning content.
Weaknesses: Feels highly corporate and lacks emotional engagement for new hires. The interface can be overwhelming for first-time users.
Noxyn Opportunity: Create a more engaging, human-centered onboarding experience with gamified progress tracking and a friendlier interface that appeals to modern learners.
2. WorkRamp
Strengths: Strong focus on enablement and continuous learning, offering interactive training modules and team-based learning paths. Highly customizable and well-suited for sales and onboarding.
Weaknesses: Prioritizes company goals over individual motivation. The design focuses on structure but lacks built-in elements for recognition or reward.
Noxyn Opportunity: Blend WorkRamp’s structure with game mechanics and visual growth to make learning intrinsically rewarding while still supporting organizational goals.
3. Lessonly by Seismic
Strengths: Intuitive design and simple user experience that promotes easy content creation and learning. Strong team training and lesson-tracking features.
Weaknesses: Minimal personalization and limited feedback or engagement tools beyond lesson completion.
Noxyn Opportunity: Expand beyond lesson completion by incorporating interactive challenges, AI-powered recommendations, and personalized growth journeys to keep users engaged beyond onboarding.
Summary:
While Adobe Learning Manager, WorkRamp, and Lessonly provide powerful training infrastructures, they focus primarily on content delivery and compliance. Noxyn differentiates itself by focusing on engagement, motivation, and personalization, turning onboarding into a rewarding experience that fosters connection, confidence, and long-term retention.
To ensure Noxyn addressed the needs of all key users involved in the onboarding experience, I developed three core personas: the Manager, the New Hire, and the Business Executive. Each represents a different perspective in the onboarding process and helped guide design decisions across engagement, functionality, and business value.
Manager
Oversees new hires and monitors progress. Needs a clear, efficient dashboard to track completion rates and identify where additional support is needed.
Relevance: The manager’s perspective ensures the design includes progress tracking, milestone visibility, and performance insights.
New Hire
Recently joined the company and is adapting to new systems, expectations, and culture. Wants an engaging, structured onboarding experience that makes learning feel motivating and achievable.
Relevance: As the primary user, the new hire’s needs drive the design of gamified tasks, visual progress tracking, and personalized learning paths.
Business Executive
Focuses on company-wide performance and retention. Seeks measurable data to evaluate the impact of onboarding on employee engagement and productivity.
Relevance: The executive’s viewpoint ensures that Noxyn aligns with organizational goals and demonstrates clear business ROI through analytics and reporting.
Design
The site map outlines the structure of Noxyn and how users navigate through the platform. It organizes the onboarding process into clear sections such as Dashboard, Progress, Learning Modules, and Rewards to create an intuitive and guided experience.By visualizing the site’s hierarchy, I ensured that information flows naturally and users can easily find what they need at each stage of onboarding. This structure supports both simplicity and engagement, reducing confusion while maintaining a sense of progress and achievement.
The user flow illustrates how a new hire interacts with Noxyn from the moment they log in to completing their onboarding milestones. It maps each step of the experience, showing how users move through key actions such as viewing their dashboard, starting training modules, tracking progress, and earning rewards.By visualizing the user journey in this way, I ensured that each interaction feels purposeful and intuitive. The flow emphasizes clarity, motivation, and efficiency, helping new hires stay engaged and confident as they progress through their onboarding experience.

The visual identity of Noxyn conveys a sense of innovation, progress, and empowerment. The cool-toned palette and glowing accents create a futuristic, tech-driven atmosphere that feels intelligent yet approachable. The design evokes motivation and forward movement, symbolizing personal and professional growth through technology. It aims to make onboarding feel less like a process and more like an experience of discovery and achievement.
The low-fidelity wireframes established the foundation of Noxyn’s layout and functionality. They focused on structure, hierarchy, and flow rather than visual design, allowing for quick iteration and feedback. These early sketches helped define the core experience, ensuring that navigation felt intuitive and each feature supported the user’s onboarding journey. The simplicity of the wireframes encouraged collaboration and alignment before moving into detailed visual design.
